Alternative Fuels

GENERAL MOTORS - DRIVING CHANGE WITH ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES AND ALTERNATIVE FUELS

As you consider the possibility of adding alternative fuel vehicles to your fleet, consider GM's leadership role in developing vehicles capable of using alternative fuel sources.

The fact is that GM leads the auto industry in providing the broadest array of fuel-efficient cars, trucks, SUVs and vans.

Consider these GM facts:

  • First original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to offer hybrid full-size pickups
  • Low-cost Chevrolet Malibu and Saturn VUE and AURA Hybrids available for the 2008 model year
  • Full-size SUV Hybrids are available in 2008
  • Wide availability of E85 capabilities
  • Leadership role in developing fuel cell vehicles

GM is a leader in producing a complete range of FlexFuel vehicles that can run on either E85 or gasoline. General Motors is now building 400,000 new FlexFuel vehicles a year.

E85

What it is:

E85 ethanol is a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. It's a renewable fuel made mostly from corn.

Because it helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, E85 ethanol is an exciting new energy resource. That's why GM already has over 2 million FlexFuel vehicles, capable of running on E85 ethanol, gasoline, or a combination of both, on the road today. And GM is building 400,000 new FlexFuel vehicles a year.
